Hygiene Drive

We ensure young girls can maintain their personal hygiene with dignity by providing sanitary pads.

The DJ Strauss Foundation tackles a critical issue impacting millions of girls’ education in South Africa: period poverty. Statistics show a staggering 4 million girls between 13 and 19, prime years for schooling, lack access to basic sanitary products. This directly affects their ability to stay in school, with absenteeism linked to poor menstrual hygiene management reaching 25% annually. That’s a week of missed classes every month, hindering their academic progress.

Sanitary Pads Drive

Period poverty gives girls unequal access to education, taking away their basic human rights. We are here to change this.

About this project

About this project

TO END PERIOD POVERTY AND EMPOWER WOMEN THROUGH AWARENESS AND PROVIDING FREE SANITARY PADS.

The culture of silence around menstruation limits the ability of women and girls to equally participate in society. It undermines their social status and self-esteem. We give women the right to go to school, play sport, go to work and participate in life despite not being able to get  sanitary products.
